Dukan Diet Menu

What’s on the menu when you are doing the Dukan Diet? If it’s recipe ideas you are looking for, check out the newly released Dukan Diet Recipe Book

Well, that depends on which phase you are in. If you are in phase 1 of the Dukan Diet, your menu will be rather limited.

During the attack phase – your attack phase menu will consist of lean meats, eggs and protein only. All shellfish is permitted, lean beef, lean cuts of ham with the rind cut off, chicken, and fish are all approved.

What you want to stay away from is fat – unlike the Atkin’s diet, your Dukan Diet menu will not involve butter, cream, cheese and oil. A low fat, all protein menu is how you will lose the weight quickly and healthfully.  You are also instructed to add oat bran

During the second phase or cruise phase of the Dukan Diet, you will maintain your protein days but will alternate them with protein and vegetable days. You will continue to avoid fats but now you can have all of the green leafy vegetables that you want. You will find a full list of veggies that you can eat during this phase here on the site but if you stick to green, leafy options like kale, spinach, lettuce and chard, you will do well and continue your weight loss.

Note – the bulk of your weight loss on the Dukan Diet will be during the first phase when your menu is more restrictive. Lose all of the weight you want to lose during the attack phase diet and then you will continue to lose a couple of pounds each week during the cruise phase.

The third phase or consolidation diet menu is far more inclusive. Here is where you start adding in menu items that you enjoy like breads, low-fat butter, fruit, pasta and so forth. Dr. Dukan instructs you on how to add these in and what quantities to maintain your weight loss. You will also be able to enjoy two cheat meals per week during this phase of the diet.

During the fourth phase or stabilization portion of the diet, the Dukan Diet menu opens up to include all of the foods you love. However, one day each week you will observe your “attack phase” diet. Six days of the week your menu will be varied and you can eat what you like and on the seventh day, you will eat all protein. Just like in the first phase of the diet, you will avoid fats and fatty cuts of meat and eat only lean meats, fish or chicken.

You must limit your intake of oat bran and oat bran galettes to the allowed amount of oat bran depending on which phase of the diet you are in.
